5 MQLs from 1 post: what actually worked
A few weeks ago, I wrote a post on LinkedIn.
It didn’t go viral.
No thousands of likes. No blue-check comments.
But it did something better:
It brought in 5+ marketing qualified leads.
What’s an MQL?
Simple: it’s someone who knows what you do, is the right fit, and shows real interest in working with you.
They’re not just curious.
They’re considering you.
So how did one post do that?
Let me break it down:
1. Start with a real problem people are stuck in
Forget “adding value.”
Talk about the thing that’s been annoying them for months.
Most people post vague, generic advice.
But pain cuts deeper.
You need to speak to something your audience is already thinking—but hasn’t seen written down yet.
2. Say something different than everyone else
Here’s where most people lose the reader:
They list the same 3 tips everyone else is regurgitating.
My take was specific. It was mine.
- It wasn’t just “post more” or “optimize your profile.”
- I shared the real reason people aren’t getting leads:
- They’re writing for their peers, not their prospects.
That angle hit. Because it was true. And different.
3. Make the next step obvious
I didn’t drop a CTA link.
I just made it crystal clear how to work with me.
When people read the post, they knew:
– Who I help
– What I help with
– How they could reach out
No confusion. No 5-paragraph origin story.
Just clarity + credibility + relevance.
Here’s the takeaway:
You don’t need to go viral.
You need to resonate.
If your content hits the right problem, offers a new perspective, and shows a clear path forward…
Qualified leads will come to you.
That’s what builds a business.
One post at a time.
